Captain: Mark Saunders

CAPTAIN MARK SAUNDERS
Mark Was born in Cape Town South Africa where his first love of sailing started way back on the optimists. This soon grew to Hobie Cats and windsurfing with an array of other sports.
In the mid-’90s Mark relocated to Auckland New Zealand where he became heavily involved in the local racing scene through the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. Having had success in the monohull classes, Mark soon moved on to the more exhilarating high-speed multihulls again with great success.
The Hauraki Gulf in Auckland became his playground where fishing, diving, and other water sports continued and more recently Kite surfing has become a big passion.
When away from the water you will most likely find him on a snowboard in the mountains or curled up with a good book.
Having spent a few seasons in the Caribbean and the BVI over the last 4 years Mark is looking forward to using that local knowledge to show you around one of the world’s best playgrounds.

CHEF KIM STOKLASA
Kim has worked in the finance, entertainment, luxury event management, and TV industry in several diverse roles before turning her passion to yachting. Music is a passion of hers, and she has performed as a singer in Top40 bands and worked as a
studio singer for pop productions, ad jingles, and voiceovers and has picked up the guitar in recent years. As a scuba diver, she enjoys exploring the underwater world and swimming, snorkeling, and other water sports. Growing up in Switzerland, she loves the mountains and has been skiing since childhood. Being a keen photographer, painter, and nature enthusiast, Kim enjoys hiking with friends and observing wildlife, documenting this on film, as well as putting the rod out to catch some lunch.

Kim is no stranger to yacht charters or the British Virgin Islands. She has served gorgeous food for the last 8 years and is a sought-after chef. We are extremely lucky to have her onboard. Kim is one of those unique people who make difficult tasks look easy. She is a delight to work with, very organized, and pragmatic. Kim is, most importantly, a team player that makes sure everyone around her feels at ease and a true people person who takes the time to get to know each guest personally.

Kim LOVES all animals, but her passion is dog training which she spends half of each year loving the RV life and dogs.

Kim will share the chef position this season with Yves, with Kim starting the season and Yves coming on board later.

CHEF YVES GAUTIER
Yves is a classically trained french chef (Catering Baccalaureate) originally from Paris who recently worked as a sole chef on a 42 M Motor yacht in France and Turkey. However, Yves spent 17 years in the Caribbean cooking in Villas and operating his restaurants. He left the Caribbean after Hurricane Irma and is very excited to return. He is equally proficient in French, Mediterranean, Kosher, North African, Japanese, Italian, Sushi and Maki, Middle East, Thai, Indian, South American, Vegetarian, Vegan, all types of allergies, not to mention plain old North American favorites. He has impressive wine pairing knowledge and a good knowledge of cigars. Pastry and Bread Making will come out of the galley frequently.
SCUBA diving, Fishing, and all watersports, along with Sailing, particularly make him happy.

ENGINEER/FIRST MATE/DIVE INSTRUCTOR JASON HOLT
Jason is no stranger to the charter industry or the water. He holds a Master of Yachts, a Fly Boarding Instructor, Dive Instructor, Commercial Diver, and Engineering and Diesel Training. He is a keen Fisherman who loves water sports and kite surfing. He hails from South Africa but has made the British Virgin Islands his home for many years. Jason has extensive experience on Motor Yachts, both private and charter, and looks forward to being onboard Mariah Princess III this season. We feel privileged to have Jason on our team!

STEWARDESS LUCIE LE LANN
Lucie hails from Brittany on the west coast of France with a background in corporate and information systems in Africa and Guadeloupe. She took a leap of faith and moved to Guadeloupe approximately five years ago, where she was self-employed, creating decorative objects with collected driftwood, sea shells, jewelry, and accessories. She has always wanted to work on a sailing yacht and has recently completed her STCW, ENG 1, and recently completed mixology and stewardess courses to be ready for this season on Mariah Princess. In her spare time, she likes Surfing, Windsurfing, Running, Hiking, Cooking, and Crafts.

We are very proud of the team that we have put together, and they are all enthusiastic professionals who look forward to showing you the best vacation possible!

First-all killed it!! Great adventure Captain, food was over the top, just the way we like it. Zara was always ready to fill out cocktail glasses and Felix always eager to help. It was the best time a day could ever spend with his 3 daughters. Thank you for that! And to have and share this with my amazing girlfriend and two best friends, well, it just doesn’t get any better! Thanks again, and I hope for calm seas and the wind is always blowing in your direction. Roger and the Girls

Wow, Wow, Wow, this trip was amazing. Cheers to the crew for making such great memories for us. Dianna Grace

Our family can’t thank you enough for our wonderful trip around the BVI’s. This was our first catamaran trip and you have exceeded all expectations. Kevin- you’ve made us feel safe the entire time, and you have been the perfect tour guide. Even on an abbreviated trip, I feel like you did a perfect job of directing us to the highlights. Nicole, we have you to thank for the extra 5 lbs we are going home with! Your food has been amazing-no need for finding restaurants off the boat-your cooking was far better. And Diane, I can’t say enough to thank you for all our chats! I’ve loved getting to know you. And your bartender skills are on point! You made us feel immediately at home. The MARIAH PRINCESS is lucky to have this crew. We hope to sail with you again.

Thanks for an amazing trip to the USVI. It was fantastic in no small part due to your efforts, from great recommendations to planning the exceptional food. It was always top-notch. Best of luck with your next long sail and new team member, and wherever life takes you both.

You are formidable hosts, and you created a fun environment well enjoyed. Thanks for all the extras, the food, and the relaxing atmosphere. Everything was top-notch! Good luck, and we hope our paths cross again. And of course, thank you for celebrating our anniversary in such an amazing way. And, of course, we didn’t mind explaining all the jokes to Kevin!

Thank you all so much for an incredible week! We all had an amazing and relaxing time and are so grateful for your kindness and all of your help in planning this trip. The food, atmosphere, and activities were all incredible! And thank you for helping to celebrate my birthday and parents' anniversary in such a special way. Wow, where to start with Mariah Princess!! We had an incredible trip. The boat itself is beautiful. The master bedroom cabin was very spacious and offered Mike and I double sinks and a walk-in closet…pretty spectacular for boat living.
The other bedrooms were perfectly sized for our kids and nephew. We loved hanging out on the back of the boat. Aside from socializing around the great teak dining table, there were numerous cozy sofas and loungers back there to enjoy the sun. The boat had a fantastic flybridge area too which was a great spot to take in the views as we sailed. It also had an awesome hot tub! The tender was a fabulous boat too.

But the best part about Mariah Princess was definitely the crew!!! They went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable. Capt Kevin made sure to communicate our plans each evening and was very approachable and informative. He was always willing to help and accommodate our desires on the trip. He even took my son out on the tender for boat driving lessons (Peyton has his boating license). His first mate, Julio, was the nicest guy! He was the first to jump up and agree to take my kid's wakeboarding, snorkeling, or tubing. He also did a hike with Mike and me in St Thomas. Simply an awesome guy!
Our chef, Nicole, made dish after dish of amazing food, with a smile!! We ate so much and loved it all. She was super accommodating to my daughter too, who can be really picky.
And finally, Cat….our stew. She was sincerely the best we could have asked for! She was kind, wonderful with my kids, knowledgeable, helpful, funny, and made everything about this trip better. She, along, with Julio, taught my kids how to wakeboard. Their patience and encouragement pushed my kids to success out there. It was awesome.
She also did a one-hour morning yoga session for the girls one day which was out of this world. My daughter cried as we left the boat and mainly to be leaving Cat!

As you can tell, we loved it! The change in boats was meant to be. If we had to make any recommendations for improvement, there aren’t many….and these suggestions are very minor. Maybe have some round noodles on board and possibly a large inflatable for more than one person to chill out on. (These are coming! note by crew)

Cheers to the Mariah Princess Team for putting together our gorgeous sailing adventure in the USVI... in less than one week!
When you are ready to Sail... Go! Go! Go! .. especially during this difficult time of Covid and travel restrictions, The Mariah Princess was absolutely pristine
about protocol and we joyfully and safely met the superb Mariah Crew in St. Thomas. Captain Kevin Gentles and his Crew, immediately set the tone for fun with their high spirited enthusiasm, professionalism and character! Their work ethic shining brightly anticipating our every need!!!
The boat is absolutely gorgeous... even more beautiful than the photographs. What a Lady she is.
I and my friends have sailed a lot in our lifetime and the Mariah did not disappoint. Captain Kevin took us on many a great sail! He and 1st Mate Nick,
found the most delightful places to swim, snorkel, kayak. Nick had us hiking, paddle boarding... always watching over us to make sure we were safe and having a great time.
Our Marvelous Steward; CAT.... was always there with a towel, a drink, and her very witty personality. We adored her! Her table settings were highly creative and elegant. She was highly professional and a joy to be around.
Chef KATE.... fed us with the most sumptuous meals. Many of us have dietary issues, which didn't faze her one bit. We were all completely well fed and happy!! Her cheerful personality and love of cooking was gratefully appreciated.
The only disappointment was the hot tub was not working. In all fairness, because I chartered her so quickly, there wasn't enough time to get it fixed.
Everything else was perfection.
I look forward to chartering her again and again.
Thank you Mariah Team for a terrific vacation!
