Reviews
Our family of four spent an unforgettable Christmas week aboard Chaos Interrupted with Vince, Judy, and Jake (their dog) and it was by far one of the best trips our well-travelled family has ever taken. Although it was a rather last minute decision, it ended up being an amazing time and a phenomenal experience that we would do again in a heartbeat. Both Vince and Judy were so personable, easy to get along with, detail-oriented, helpful, and were always willing to cater to our family and our needs. Before we arrived, they created an itinerary based around our family's interests and desires planning for hikes, runs in the morning, beach time, snorkeling, paddle boarding, movie or game nights, fishing, and so much more. An unexpected highlight of the trip was the AMAZING food we had aboard. Judy had planned out a Michelin star-worthy menu (no exaggeration) for our week including exciting foods like poke bowls, teriyaki salmon, and avocado toast with a twist. Numerous times, you'd hear us utter "We're not worthy!" Judy went out of her way to ensure that our complicated dietary needs were met with alternative options and substitutions. Jake (the boat dog) was a joy to have aboard, he was a loving, gentle companion and truly made this trip even better. We can't imagine another charter could ever live up to these guys!

First trip taken like this - and it was fantastic. Judy, Vince & Jake - top notch hosts & teachers. The boat was beautifully decorated. The rooms were bright and comfortable. The quiet mornings & hot coffee - gentle rains, daily rainbows, gorgeous sunsets - all made for a nice daily arc. The dinners were amazing and creative for a small kitchen space. In late 2020, we had gotten our scuba certifications started in a pool - Judy & Vince were very good teachers for our first actual open water refresher and subsequent two dives (and so patient). Watching Vince catch our lobster dinner and capture invasive lionfish, seeing turtles & octopus & even the two dolphins that greeted us on our first evening, island hikes, Vince's painkillers - all unforgettable moments. Becoming comfortable in the water - life-changing. Thank you, Chaos Interrupted for one of our best trips.

We were looking to do something special together with our children and their partners in connection with Leif’s 70th birthday. After looking at different options and considerations we settled for an All-inclusive private yacht charter, as both we and the children are comfortable on boats. As luck would have it, we chartered Chaos Interrupted, which turned out to be a terrific success for an unforgettable family reunion.
We all enjoyed swimming in the warm turquoise water, some snorkeled, Fredrik scuba dove with Captain Vince, paddle boarded, kayaked, danced, stargazed, hiked and sailed!
Some enjoyed relaxing and reading in the bean bag chairs and some were perfectly happy resting in the shade on the fly bridge cuddling Jake the boat dog! Daniel was promoted to deckhand, since he helped fist mate Judy when tying-up the boat at our anchorages.
Fantastic to be able to see up close the sea turtles and different kinds of fish. Captain Vince snared a lobster on a dive and from which Chef Judy prepared a fabulous lobster ceviche for us.
First Mate Judy is an amazing Chef, who turns out an incredible variety of dishes from her compact kitchen/galley, for breakfast lunch and dinner. Vince perfected mixing The Sinatra Smash, an excellent choice of cocktail.
Judy guided us to see the Petroglyphs and along the trail we saw many colorful land crabs, and we came upon dear at Annaberg sugar mill. On the bus ride back from the Windmill Bar we drove past wild donkeys that roam the island. Also, some goats were wandering the beaches.
Thank you, Captain Vince, Chef Judy and Jake (the Boat Dog) for an amazing six-day cruise around St. John on your wonderful yacht Chaos Interrupted. It was an unforgettable family reunion; we had a great time and created many lovely memories.
Ulla & Leif (November 2021)
From the moment we stepped onboard until we disembarked it was the most relaxing yet adventurous experience I, we ever had! Cap. Vince and First Mate/chef Judy are such a joy to be around, easy going, and knowledgeable about fun as much as they are about the sea.
They worked with our entire family prior to the trip and assisted in crafting the perfect trip, and provided a few pleasant surprises along the way. If you wanna scuba, relax, swim, relax, hike, dance the night away in a local island/harbor bar and relax they got you covered!
Sleeps great!
Sails great!
The cooking, I just can’t say enough about it, it was amazing! I felt like I was in episode of No Reservations during every meal (the smoked tuna dip, the fresh caught lobster (complements to the chef and the captain), grilled lobster, jerked fish, smoothie bowl, and I could just go on and on), each meal was truly something.
Each day was better than the one before, and each night was more special. The bays filled with sea turtles, stingrays, and beautiful white sand and clear blue water. We snorkeled and just flopped around on all the floatable activities Chaos Interrupted had to offer.
I could go on and on but you should just go experience it for yourself!

Let me start with "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!" We were looking to do something extra special for our 25th wedding anniversary and they nailed it! Captain Vince, Judy (amazing chef) and Jake the Boat Dog went above and beyond to make our special day into an unforgettable week! Every meal, every bay, and every activity was specialized just for us! They are wonderful hosts and we can't wait to sail with them again :-) Thanks Vince, Judy, & Jake!!!!!!!!!
They are now like family and we can't wait to return in April 2022. (Yes, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we booked our return trip before we left the boat!) I would encourage you to book soon, say yes to all the things and trust their recommendations for interrupting your chaos!
Reagan and Mickey (June 2021)
They really did an amazing job with our week. It all started with the preparation process. They individualized the entire itinerary, along with the meals with dietary requirements and tastes, with the best that can be done (given restrictions on items that may not be available on the islands). We had a dedicated phone conversation, after completing some “homework” on which to base the discussion on- basically for them to get to know us, what we like, what we don’t like, and what we were looking to do on the trip. Then they put together a sample itinerary, which we could then make changes as we wished. We decided to do a half board, so they made us breakfast every morning, and a certain number of lunches and dinners as well. All the meals that were cooked were excellent, and the meals we had on land were also awesome (all at places which they recommended). She makes the BEST Key Lime Pie- Kudos Judy! They even were so thoughtful with our kids- for example, for our welcome drink on board (my wife loves Prosecco) – they found a bottle of non-alcoholic Rose so the kids could also toast with us. What a great start that was to an awesome trip.
As an example- we arrived Saturday afternoon, and it ended up raining all day Sunday so we couldn’t really do anything outdoors that day. The awesome thing about this charter is that it’s not like a cruise ship- things you want can be changed- whether it’s for unexpected weather, or you decide you want to sleep in one day that was supposed to be early- they are very accommodating and can make it happen. We were supposed to eat out that day, so they shifted gears and made our lunch on the boat instead. We traveled as a two adult, two teenager family for the week- and we visited. St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. We spent the week sailing, snorkeling, diving, fishing- but more important, just relaxing!! All four of us, though we don’t necessarily share the same recreational interests, all found something to do and loved it!
Judy and Captain Vince were very patient. I wanted to dive, and my wife wasn’t as keen but was willing to do it. Both Vince and Judy are PADI certified, and they were absolute saints with teaching us all. And I caught some pretty amazing close-up underwater pictures of ocean wildlife.
And a special shout out to boat dog Jake- he was awesome! My kids have been begging for a dog, and Jake certainly didn’t help my case in saying no… He is such a loving dog, and we enjoyed the “Jake lean”. (You will have to book a trip to see what it is!)
Even though we were guests, we felt like we gained three more friends. They are just good people. We had fun with our happy hours (after the boat was docked of course!) with two different types of Martinis, learned all about their journey to how they ended up running this charter- we even watched Pirates of the Caribbean on a projector! My wife had never seen it, so we decided to do that one day after dinner. We also celebrated Captain Vince’s birthday on the boat!!
Unless you’re allergic to a good time, it’s hard for me to imagine anyone having anything but an awesome trip with Chaos Interrupted. And I cannot tell you how appropriate and accurate that name is for how our trip went. I only wish that instead of sitting here writing this review, we were back there right now. You cannot go wrong on Chaos Interrupted- we are trying to book another trip with Judy and Captain Vince for next year!! I wholeheartedly recommend you interrupt the chaos with Captain Vince and Judy!!!
L** Family (May 2021)
We flew into St. Thomas out of Atlanta and just as soon as we grabbed our luggage off the carousel, our driver scooped us off and we headed for the short (10 minute) drive to the marina where Capt. Vince and Judy greeted us with the biggest welcomes! Once on board Chaos Interrupted we were given time to get settled into our rooms. I was so afraid that I would feel claustrophobic (I’m tall enough that I should’ve played basketball) but couldn’t believe how spacious the rooms are! The bed is about hip-height (which allows for bag storage underneath) but you can still sit up while sitting on the bed! Each room has their own bathrooms, small closet and a couple of drawers/storage spots, too! Once we were all settled, our group all met on the fly-bridge for “yappy-hour” and the official relaxing began!
Over the course of the next 7 days we cruised around St. Thomas and St. John staying in a different bay each night. Each bay had its own special character that you’ll never forget. We ate Pizza Pi VI off a that has been converted into a pizzeria (what!?!!)- this was after a day of diving, snorkeling, turtle spotting, and having fun identifying all the sea life. We made the quick float from boat to shore another day just for the cutest little beach bar that serves a famous island favorite - The Painkiller (Capt. Vince makes a pretty mean Pain Killer, too!)! Another day we all enjoyed the swim-up bar at Lime-Out (the Ceviche Taco is the perfect afternoon treat on a hot day!!!). Oh, and I can’t forget my favorite experience - the hour we spent swimming with and observing two massive (4 ft.!) Loggerhead Sea Turtles in just 15 ft of water in Maho Bay!!! You just never get to see them so comfortably in their own environment like that in the states or Keys!!!
I have to mention the perfect mix of boat, water, and land activities is all planned out for you by Judy! On land we hiked (more like a flat walk along the most gorgeous shoreline) to an old sugar plantation, drove past wild donkeys on fun bus ride up to the Windmill Bar which has the world’s best sunset and shopped in the cutest little villas and even danced in the streets to local nightlife music! SO MUCH FUN!!!
What I really love is how these two work together as a team! The planning was all done by Judy - she reaches out before the trip to ensure you’ll love her menu, that they have your favorite drinks on board and they try their hardest to fulfill all of your snacking requests (island grocery shopping is NOT like the USA). This is truly the trip of a lifetime and something you, your loved ones, and your friends will never forget and be talking about for the rest of your lives!!! You’ll want to book your next trip before you even finish the first one!
Tips:
- You truly will spend most of your time in your bathing suit and a coverup! I came home with too many outfits that were never touched. Wet clothes can also be hung to dry off the side of the boat day and night, so you really don’t need much!
- The deck towels on board are Turkish-towels which double as a coverup! Regular towels are provided in the bathrooms - don’t pack any!
- Pack a GoPro if you have one!!!
- Enjoy game-night around the table in the evenings before bed! Vince and Judy have a selection of fun games aboard!
- Try new things!!!
- Jake the Boat Dog will be your best friend if you bring him a rawhide :P
- For me (I have an old foot injury), sneakers were the best option for the Annabel Plantation walk/hike but my hubs wore flip flops. If you think you may want sneakers, pack ONE pair. We never used our water shoes though.
- AT&T cell service was great - if you need to check in at home and we did not incur any roaming or international charges (USVI).

Branden & Courtney (May 2021)
Chaos Interrupted is based out of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Vince and Judy handled our transportation from the airport to the docks to their boat, which we then received a drink and a short (but handy) safety briefing. We asked a few questions and our vacation began. This trip was tailored to our group, to the things we enjoyed doing, things we hoped for, wanted to try, wanted to see, etc. Vince and Judy made sure we had everything.
For 7 days, we motored and sailed around St. Thomas and St. John, USVI. We visited several coves, both popular and secluded. We ate amazing food. We visited with our friends. We drank. A lot. We snorkeled. We shopped. We laughed. We cried. We relaxed. We did it all. It was All-inclusive. We didn't have to fool with the constant hustle and bustle of popular vacation spots. Not that I'm saying popular vacation spots aren't great. We just didn't have to deal with the 'people on vacation' traffic. We woke up each day with a plan, beautiful weather, great people, great food, and good drinks!
I could not have imagined a better vacation, one that allowed our group to get away from anything we considered "chaos" and just relax and enjoy the ride, literally. The views, the marine life, the relaxation, and the "no rush" atmosphere was everything we wanted, and everything we needed. We will definitely be back, not just for the trip, but also to see our friends.

“Thank you Judy, Captain Vince and Jake (the Boat Dog!) for the love, care and time dedicated to us! Love you friends. We had a great time living on the boat and you couldn’t be more helpful to make this experience totally worthwhile. The places we visited, the food you provided, the sunsets, cocktails, fun games on board, the morning floats, etc. We definitely want to come back again!”
Thank you,
We just got back from a New Year’s Eve week private catamaran charter on Chaos Interrupted. The owner operators Judy and Vince exceeded all expectations. They were knowledgeable, adaptable and worked so hard to make our trip perfect. The boat was so nice , new, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food Judy prepared was a 12 out of 10, always delicious and gourmet. They worked with us to plan our trip ahead of time and it was awesome for the 6 of us in our family. They took us scuba diving and gave us personal attention. The beds in our cabins were very comfortable and the bathrooms well appointed. Jake the boat dog was so lovable and a plus to have with us. He was never in the way. We always felt safe with Captain Vince at the helm. We loved our daily paddle boarding and snorkel adventures. Vince led us on a memorable sunset hike at Ram Head. In summary, Judy and Vince went above and beyond to plan, adjust and execute our trip to make it perfect. We would definitely sail with them again and recommend to our friends and family.
