If you’re looking for the real deal Caribbean experience, Some Kind of Wonderful is where it’s at. This is the only catamaran with an all-Caribbean crew, a Caribbean-themed interior, and a locally inspired menu. It’s luxury meets local culture, and it’s no wonder the crew stole the spotlight at the show. With a whole life’s worth of local knowledge, they know the Virgin Islands the best of anyone. They love taking guests on farm tours and historic hikes and even meeting with local musicians and artists. The yacht itself is as impressive as the experience. With a lightweight, high-performance design, it’s fast, smooth, and super comfortable. The flybridge is the real gem—a huge space with lounge seating, daybeds, cocktail tables, and even two fridges to keep the drinks ice-cold. It’s the perfect spot to hang out, whether you’re soaking up the sun or watching the stars. But let’s talk about the crew. Captain Lukata Samuel is a Virgin Islands local who discovered his passion for sailing right here at home. His career has taken him all over the Caribbean, but now he’s back doing what he loves most: sharing his home waters with guests. Captain Lukata’s partner, Benita, the chef onboard, is just as amazing. With family roots spanning the Caribbean, from Cuba to Trinidad, she brings a true local explorer’s spirit. She’s spent years in the culinary and restaurant world. She says her favorite thrill is “watching her guests dance when they eat.” And if you’re into yoga or pilates, you’re in luck—Benita is a certified instructor and even offers yoga-focused charters.Real Yacht Image from Review Real Yacht Image from Review Real Yacht Image from Review Real Yacht Image from Review Real Yacht Image from Review Real Yacht Image from Review Real Yacht Image from Review

Captain: Lukata Samuel

Runners Up to Best Crew In Show at the 2024 VIPCA Charter Yacht Show

Capt. Lukata Samuel
Lukata Samuel is a 100-ton Master Captain, born and raised in the beautiful Virgin Islands. With a deep-rooted knowledge of the Virgin Islands and surrounding areas, his love for the sea began at just 8 years old at the St. Thomas Yacht Club, where he first discovered his passion for sailing. His journey in sailing grew as he learned, taught, and shared his skills. Determined to make an impact, Lukata traveled to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to teach sailing to local youth. Afterward, he returned to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, where he worked on day charters.

In addition to sailing, Lukata is a well-known local runner and triathlete, having competed in multiple triathlons across the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. In his downtime, Lukata and Benita can often be found racing sailboats, volunteering in the local community, or relaxing on some of their favorite hidden beaches. They also dedicate their time to a sailing and wellness program, teaching youth in St. Thomas both the fundamentals of sailing and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Lukata has a deep passion for sharing the island experience with his guests, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the Caribbean lifestyle. He is committed to pushing the boundaries of ocean adventure, crafting a tropical oasis experience for all who join him. Every charter he leads offers a rich, diverse experience, including farm-fresh provisions, special island tours, visits to local eateries, encounters with local artists, and much more to give guests an authentic taste of the islands’ food, fun, and culture.

Lukata’s greatest joy comes from helping his guests live their dream island experience. His pride is in providing a magical journey that stays with them long after they leave. Inspired by a quote that he lives by, “The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for a newer and richer experience,” Lukata invites you to embrace the island spirit. Come be "irie" and catch the wind of wonders on Some Kind of Wonderful, as Captain Lukata sets sail for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the Virgin Islands.

Chef Benita Marshall
Captain & Chef Benita Marshall radiates bright energy and has a deep love for sunset swims and fresh pesto. With over two years of experience and more than 1,000 nautical miles sailed in near-coastal waters, along with her USCG Master 100-ton license, Benita feels truly at one with the ocean, embracing wherever the waves lead her. Her family roots stretch across the Caribbean, from Cuba to Trinidad, making her a true "local island explorer" when it comes to food, culture, fun, and, of course, the sea.

Benita truly shines in the kitchen, where she transforms cooking into an art form. With over five years in the culinary and restaurant industry, she is experienced in accommodating various diets and allergies, believing that food should always make you feel better. Her favorite thrill is watching guests "dance when they eat," a joy she looks forward to with every meal she prepares. Alongside Lukata, Benita helps operate their family farms, Meder Mogzit and Greenridge Guavaberry, incorporating a farm-to-table approach to dining, ensuring every dish is infused with freshness and love.

Rising with the ocean's rhythm and the sun's light is how Benita envisions living her life forever. As a certified yoga and Pilates instructor, she believes that health is wealth, and she loves connecting with guests through mindful movement, meditation, and breathwork. Whether in prayer and meditation at dawn or doing flips off the boat by midday, Benita is passionate about nurturing both the spirit and the joy of life, making every moment count.

Together, Benita and Lukata offer an array of experiences, from farm tours and historic hikes to intimate encounters with local musicians and artists. They also create unforgettable adventures on the water, giving guests intangible souvenirs of their time in the islands. With their authentic Caribbean essence, Benita and Lukata invite guests to dive deep into island culture, food, fun, and the true essence of "island life."

SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL
November 2024
Pass along my great thanks for an amazing dinner last night hosted by the fabulous Benita and Lukata on Some Kind of Wonderful.

Not only are these two so warm and kind, their obvious love for what they do is infectious. The meal was outstanding- in my 20 years, this may have been one of the top entrees I've ever had megayacht or sailing yacht.

So big thanks again to their hospitality and skill, it was an absolute pleasure.

I had no idea what to expect, but you guys made this vacation so comfortable and relaxing. Your cuisine was beyond compare! I knew once I booked this trip in Oct ‘23 I would love it once I saw the picture of you both.
There was nothing more I could have expected, I don’t think there is anything I could change except packing less (lol) . You guys should buy you own charter and do this yourself.
Let us know of all your plans!

Our family is Vegan SOS (no salt, no oil, no added sugar) Benita did an amazing job cooking , preparing and presenting a wonderful wide variety, beautifully presented and amazingly tasteful food. Every morning, lunch and dinner was a treat for all of our senses. Lukata was an amazing captain making sure all of us were happy and doing active/fun things . For example using the under water scooter, towing the kids behind the RIB motor boat, snorkeling, lounging in the water, setting us up with movies on the tv, playing Monopoly or card games, etc. We were looking for the experience of a lifetime before the kids go off to college and we found it with Benita and Lukata. We owe you both a sincere debt of gratitude. We hope you both live long, happy, prosperous, lives with much love, Christopher, Colton, Carina, Tiffany

Dear Lukata & Benita , our vacation to the Virgin Islands was OVER THE TOP!!! You two were the best hosts our 25 year anniversary celebration. All of your special touches did not go unnoticed. The table was set beautifully each day and each day was made even more magical with your decorations with ABOVE & BEYOND service . I’m not even sure where to begin as of describing the meals that were so lovingly prepared with the freshest of fruits and vegetables from the family farm and seafood cooked to perfection!!! You even took into consideration our love of steak and cooked the tenderest portion surrounded by the medley of flavors the sautéed spinach and the best home fries ever!!! AND THE LOBSTER!!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!! We knew that we were in for a treat when the cheese board welcomed us on board. Lukata you showed us the very best secluded spots to make each adventure better than the last. You set a perfect private beach day for our anniversary. You had the toys ready for us to paddle board, float and even an underwater motorcycle. (So cool)!! Your bartending was exquisite ! Over all you both made us feel like family. TRULY! We look forward to sharing our experience and traveling with you again soon! Love you both dear family! Joy and Brent, March 10, 2024

Benita your cooking is “so so good” , no restaurant down here can compare to your cooking! If you want to share the vegan key lime pie recipe, I would love to have it. You know how to reach me. I look forward to our next adventure.....

A trip of a lifetime. I enjoyed every second of this adventure: the food , the drinks, the snorkeling, and most of all the best company and crew turned family. -Victoria
